The Queensland Overseas Foundation Inc. is a voluntary, non-profit organisation, established in 1976. It provides young people with the opportunity to broaden their vocational horizons and improve their career prospects by working overseas.
Each year, the Foundation makes a limited number of overseas scholarships available to help young Queenslanders realise their dreams of working internationally in their chosen field.
A scholarship comprises a return airfare to the country of choice, together with a settling-in allowance to cover the initial costs that the recipients might encounter.
“This opportunity will allow me to gain international experience and realise my dream of cooking with some of the best chefs in the world!” Stephanie said.
The Governor of Queensland Quentin Bryce AC, presented the Queensland Overseas Foundation Scholarships to Stephanie and Jessica, recognizing their dedication and eagerness for successful careers in the hospitality industry.
Queensland Overseas Foundation Secretary, Merv Walton said that the applicants were awarded the scholarships due to their enthusiasm and passion for careers in their chosen industry.
“These candidates are the emerging leaders in their chosen fields and this scholarship provides them with the opportunity to broaden their experience and outlook and to enhance their products and skills for their future careers,” Mr Walton said.
